Level up, keep a streak, and get a number of your own

The day you join tojo, you get a number. Not a username you had to hunt for. A tojo number, handed out in order, the same way ICQ numbers were handed out years ago.

A low number means you were here early. Someone with #5200 joined before someone with #12400. You can look people up by it. You keep it.

That number is yours from day one. Everything else you earn.

Show up, level up

tojo tracks what you actually do nearby: write in a chat, start one, follow people, fill in your profile. That activity turns into XP, and XP turns into levels.

You don’t grind a separate game. You use the app. A message in a chat around the corner counts. So does coming back tomorrow.

The first achievements come from ordinary use. Then there are harder, rarer ones — more challenging, so only the most dedicated can unlock them.

Achievements you can show

Beside the level sits a gallery of achievements. Some are one-offs: finish your profile, post in the small hours. Some have several steps: first message, then ten, then a hundred.

Some you collect. If you like collecting the countries you have been to, or going for every continent, that is the fun part: a badge for each country you have posted from, and continents in several steps up to all seven.

When you hit a goal, a reward waits for you to open. Opening it grants XP and coins, and the badge lands on your profile. Other people can see what you have unlocked. They cannot see how to get the hidden ones until they have unlocked them themselves.

A few achievements stay secret on purpose. The name and the icon are the clue.

Streaks

A streak is consecutive days you actually showed up — at least one counted thing on that calendar day. Miss a day and it resets. Keep it and the streak achievements climb with you: three days, a week, a month, and on from there.

The streak is visible on your profile — a record of showing up, day after day.

What you spend it on

Coins come from achievements and from levelling up.

You spend them on perks. The first one is a customized profile page: pick a background colour you own, and the profile is yours instead of the default. More cosmetics can sit on the same shelf later. The idea is the same: earn it in the world, wear it on your profile.

Your tojo number

You can level up. You can keep a streak. You can dress the profile. The number is something else.

That is the ICQ part. The number is not a rank and it is not XP. It is when you arrived. Low numbers mean early. Later numbers mean you joined after.
